Message for the season of easter 2024
We begin Holy Week with the celebration of Palm Sunday, the day all Jerusalem welcomed Jesus as their King and Saviour. People waved palm branches, shouted “Hosannas” and threw their cloaks on the road as he rode on a donkey into the city. Later on the week all that celebration turned into rejection and suffering, Jesus was crucified and his body laid in a tomb and when everybody thought it was all over, Easter happened, Jesus resurrected and the despair, tears and suffering of Good Friday turned into joy, hope and victory for Jesus and all his followers. This same victory is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday, in the events of the resurrection is where we find joy and hope. Joy and hope is the message of Easter, a message that comes to us much louder these days as we see the world hungry for peace and justice. Jesus lives and because he lives we will live also.
